FAQs

Do I need a referral to make an appointment?

No, you do not need a referral to see a psychologist.  However, please note that you will not have access to a Medicare rebate without one.

How do I make an appointment?

We do not employ reception staff (i.e., you will not see someone at the “front desk” when you come in). Rather, bookings are made via telephone, SMS or email, and we have an online portal for existing clients. Please see the contact us tab for further information.

How does it work if you have no reception staff?

Essentially, you come in for your therapy session and make yourself comfortable in our waiting area.  I will know of our appointment ahead of time and will meet you in the waiting room.

How often do I need to come to therapy?

This will be discussed with you at the time of your initial consultation. Generally, therapy can be short term (approximately 10 sessions) or long term (30+ sessions) depending on the nature of your presenting difficulties.  Short term therapies are usually focused on symptomatic relief (such as decreasing anxiety) and longer term therapies are typically aimed at reducing the impact of complex trauma or personality change.

Are you open on weekends or evenings?

Unfortunately, we do not offer after hours or weekend appointments.  Please feel welcome to contact me about my availability

How much do your services cost?

The standard fee for a 50 minute session is $235 (with the exception of NDIS, DVA and WorkCover) if you are employed. If you are not engaged in active employment and have been issued with a concession or health care card, you may be eligible for lower cost services ($190 per session).  These include:

  • Commonwealth Seniors Health Card

  • Health Care Card

  • Low Income Health Care Card

  • Pensioner Concession Card

If you require letters or reports to be drafted on your behalf, you will be provided with an estimate of the cost (based on an hourly rate).

How long are the sessions?

The sessions are 50 minutes in duration.

What sort of payment methods do you accept?

Payment is required at the conclusion of your appointment via debit or credit card (using Medipass). Medipass have the option of encrypting and saving your details for ease of future use.  Unfortunately, we are unable to email invoices for payment after the session.

Can I get a rebate for my therapy session?

Yes, we are registered with Medicare.  All clients wishing to claim the rebate should have their banking details registered with Medicare online (through myGov). We process the session payment and Medicare claim on our end and (provided your details are linked with Medicare online) the rebate is typically paid within one to two business days.
